The beginning part I do feel is important. The logic of where the impunity is to be rather than the sense of punishment.

And whether fortunato is to feel that it is a punishment or not remains unclear to me.

Why do you think Fortunato never says anything to the main character about where he is going? Leo.

 

Well, he is drunk and he is sightseeing and he is on sight for that amontillado and doesn't really perceive much else. You Gin.

 

Why do you think he never says a word when he is scappled to the ditch? Leo.
